Busy,
busy, busy. That's why I
haven't posted in a while.
I've
been in casting and production
as well as writing some new
spots.
Just
finished shooting my first
spot involving stunts. We
had a stunt driver doing
jumps, swerving in and out
of traffic and doing 180's
in the streets of downtown
Los Angeles, which by the
way, is a shithole. Most
aggressive panhandlers I've
seen in a while.
I
saw Farenheit
9/11 last weekend
and I'll say it's the second
best film I've seen this
year (the first being Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless
mind).
Unfortunately
for the GOP, there's really
not a lot for his detractors
to pick at. The Saudi/Bush
connection is not really
delved into too deeply. It
only accounts for 10-15 minutes
of screen time.
The
so-called "harrassment" of
politicians barely registers
two minutes of screen time.
Not really anything to refute
here.
The "disaffected
soldiers" angle doesn't
even take up 5 minutes of
film. Instead, he shows self-doubting
marines, gung-ho jarheads
cranking metal while killing
and soldiers with conscience.
The
meat of the Iraq stuff is
with the mother of a dead
soldier, who isn't even really
a war activist, but is portrayed
as a woman searching for
answers: WHY? Why did Bush
send us into this war? There's
a lot of news footage of
Bush and cronies crowing
about WMD, which as of today,
we have yet to find. She's
angry because she doesn't
see WHY.
The
early 9/11 sequence was gripping
and breathtaking. 9/11 came
back to me in a big way (for
those unaware, I was in 12
blocks from Ground Zero that
day). Every emotion and memory
came back for me, including
the electrical smell of debris.
I
was angry, choked up and
laughing at various points
in this movie. The audience
gave a long ovation to the
film when the credits rolled.
Moore had many viewers gasping
with the news footage, which
was NOT manipulated in any
way, but merely presented
in its original form.
I
suspect this film will definitely
change the minds of some
people who see it, despite
the cries to the contrary
by the right. I can't wait
until it hits DVD and video
in September. It may very
help Kerry get elected President.
Special
shout out to Jason
Zada who added this
site to his list of reads.
I've been reading (and linking
to) his site for a year.
Dick
Cheney just got booed
at the Yankees game.
I love it.
ESPN: Cheney,
who visited both clubhouses
after batting practice,
watched part of the game
from the box of Yankees
owner George Steinbrenner
and part from a first-row
seat next to the Yankees
dugout, where he sat between
New York Gov. George Pataki
and former New York City
Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.
Cheney was booed when he
was shown on the right-field
videoboard during the seventh-inning
stretch.
Hmmm.
My last blog post:
The
Giants won again this
afternoon, which makes
it 9 in a row.
Never
write off the Giants.
I've thought that since
I was 15 years old. I've
seen them come from behind
9 games on September
1st to finish the season
1 game out.
Yeah,
I know... entirely different
team with a different
manager in a different
era.
Tonight,
the Giants lead the National
League West by 2 games,
after trailing by 8 just
Tomorrow
morning I'm off to catch
Spider-man 2. Being
the Spidey nut I am,
naturally I'm psyched. After
all, I am taking the morning
off to see it.
