Life During Wartime

Do you feel safer?

I don’t. In fact, I feel more in peril. My wife and I were planning to take our first trip to Europe this year. Then the war happened.

But the war is over you say.

Where in the world can a U.S. citizen feel welcome these days? Nowhere. Think anyone is going to slap you on the back and thank you for liberating Iraq? Hell no.

Bush has made us the outcast nation. The British government supported us in the war; their citizens did not.

Can you imagine going into a restaurant in Rome? Paris? London? What if someone asked you where you were from? The fucking world hates us.

I don’t blame them.

That being said, I did go away for my birthday last month.

Disneyland.

As I stared at the wallpaper in the hotel bathroom (not much else to do in their while taking care of business), I noticed the cool wallpaper pattern. Then I noticed the wallpaper in the room. That led to me seeing the fabric of the couch.

Cool.
