ARGH.
I've
been busy lately designing a CD booklet
and jewel case for a Pulitzer-winning
political cartoonist. One of his comic
strips was turned into a musical and I'm
doing the soundtrack CD. He's friend of
a friend, so I agreed to do it for free.
I thought it'd be a couple of months,
tops. I've been working on it for the
last year and it's starting to wear thin.
You
know when you do a favor for someone,
then it turns into a big hassle? This
is one of those times. If it was just
designing and laying out the thing, it
wouldn't be such a big deal. Problem is,
I'm also coloring the illustrations. I
enjoy bringing the drawings to life with
color, but 25 fucking illustrations?
To
be fair to the writer/artist, a lot of
the blame goes to me. I can't say no...
even when I'm doing it for free. For example,
tonight, the artist called me during dinner
and asked if he were interrupting. Looking
at the clock, I could see it was past
midnight where he was, so I told him it
was fine. Except it wasn't fine. My dinner
got cold as he told me he had further
changes to the design. On a Sunday night.
For a layout he needed first thing in
the morning.
Nice
guys finish last.
TV
round-up:
Once
again, I am held rapt by a new season
of "24."
"Survivor"
has me under it's spell once again.
And
I am the last person in America to be
fascinated by "Queer Eye for the
Straight Guy."
Sorry
about the lack of updates as of late.
I've been hit with a couple of medical
problems. The spectre of high blood pressure
which looms around my family has struck
me. And I'm overweight, so that doesn't
help. A quick crash Atkins diet and I'm
down 12 pounds in two weeks so far.
But
my doctor also found a little abnormal
liver function, so I've got to get an
ultra-sound in the morning.
Stay
tuned.
